CTE - (Employment Development) Career Technical Education

• Our course partners with the Equity, Leadership and Talent Development Office in 菠菜网lol正规平台 (ELTD).  This team infuses leadership skills in workshops during class to help students be successful as a custodian in 菠菜网lol正规平台.

• Our course partners with 菠菜网lol正规平台 Personnel Commission.  Staff guide students through the application process for 菠菜网lol正规平台 and help with interview skills and test taking tips.

• Proof of enrollment in or successful completion of the Building Maintenance/Custodial Services class offered by the Long Beach School for Adults shall substitute for the required education, training, and experience.

• All applicants who successfully complete the on boarding process are provided the opportunity to work as a substitute (should the applicant wish) and they are placed on the hiring eligibility list to be considered for permanent employment with 菠菜网lol正规平台.

The hourly rate for a substitute custodian is $21.81/hour (current 10/1/2023)

The hourly rate (range) for a permanent custodian is $21.81 - $27.16/hour with benefits (current 10/1/2023)

For Animal Care:

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course provides students with classroom instruction and community classroom internship training for entry level skills in the animal care field. Course includes:  opportunities in the animal care field, animal restraint, first aid, terminology, sanitation, nutrition, domestic breeds and general care.  Internship training facilities include pet shops, veterinary hospitals, horse stables, kennels, grooming shops, zoos, and nature centers.

GOALS: Students will understand the employment opportunities and requirements necessary for a wide variety of careers working with animals.  Gain knowledge and practical experience to work in public or private animal care facilities.  Develop skills necessary to obtain and maintain employment in careers related to work with animals.
